What happened during the September 2025 quarter?
Over the last three months, both Australian and overseas share markets have gone up. Australian shares grew by about 5%, and international shares grew by just over 6%. In Australia, the economy has stayed strong, and the Reserve Bank has made it easier for businesses to borrow money, which has helped companies do well.
Overseas, even though there have been worries about extra taxes on goods from other countries (i.e. US tariffs), most investors have focused on the fact that businesses are still making money and new technology like artificial intelligence is growing.
Near-term outlook
Looking ahead, the world’s economies are holding up well, even with trade tensions. Experts think the global economic outlook will keep improving in the near future, but there are still some risks. In Australia, the Reserve Bank has cut interest rates to help keep economic activity steady, and official cash rates are now at 3.60%. If you look at how different markets have performed over the quarter, Australian shares went up nearly 5%, international shares went up just over 6%, and US shares went up nearly 7%. European shares grew a bit less, and emerging markets did the best, going up over 9%. Australian property investments and bonds also improved, but not as much as shares.
NESS Super’s investments have improved this quarter, mainly due to returns from shares in Australia and overseas. While there are still things to watch out for in the world economy, your super fund is being managed carefully to handle any ups and downs. Given the expected outlook of market volatility stemming from economic uncertainty and elevated geopolitical tension, short to medium-term caution remains.
