Super contributions of Commonwealth Government-Funded Paid Parental Leave  – enhancement

The government-funded Paid Parental Leave (PPL) scheme will see parents get 12% of parental leave payments paid as a superannuation contribution. The scheme builds on the Government‘s commitment to broaden opportunity and advance gender equality.

Parents will need to meet both of the following criteria:

  • have children born or adopted on or after 1 July 2025
  • are eligible for Australian Government Paid Parental Leave

The $1.1 billion to pay super on government-funded Parental Leave, will make the super system fairer, reduce the gender gap and benefit 180,000 families a year.
